So do we!!! In Melbourne, 1986, 7 friends decided to train in Lion Dance, Hung Gar Kuen and Jujutsu. Wanting to push their knowledge and pass on their teachings they constructed a school. This was the beginning of the Hung Gar Yau Shu (HGYS).
Today the school has added Taiko performance drumming, Dragon Dance and Tai Chi. We have over 50 active members and continue to grow each year.
We provide performance packages that include lion dance, dragon dance, drumming, and martial arts. HGYS holds comprehensive Public Liability insurance for all performances, including coverage for Chinese firecrackers.
Some of our common performances include:
Celebrate a special occasion at your business with a lion dance blessing, which culturally brings good luck and chases evil spirits away.
HGYS has a strong tradition of representing the Chinese community in multicultural events. We can provide options for parades, stage performances and stall interactions.
Our wedding performance features two lions which signify the union of the bride and groom.
Entertain employees and guests with a dynamic lion dance, dragon dance or drumming performance. Or why not all three?
Contact us for free performance quotes, questions about training, or just to say hi. Our team will do the best they can to accommodate your request.
